Travel Support
SoCS is a student-friendly event. We strongly encourage students to attend. We will also do our best to support non-students such as post-docs and others.
We expect to have some travel support, especially for students traveling from distant locations. We will also do our best to support some non-students, such as post-docs and others if they so request. The final amount of support will depend on the number of applications. People attending both ICAPS and SoCS may apply to both venues for support. They may get more than those attending only one of the conferences.
To apply, please write an email to both local arrangements chairs (felner@bgu.ac.il, shimony@cs.bgu.ac.il), and have the following topic in your email: “Request for SoCS travel support: first-name last-name”.
Inside the email please provide the following information:- Full name
- Affiliation
- Where are you flying from and the estimated airfare of your travel
- Role at the symposium (First author of a paper, presenting a paper, co-author, or none)
- Are you also attending ICAPS?
- Did you also apply to ICAPS for support? (Recommended)
- Type of degree (PhD, MSc, etc.) towards which you are studying
- Name and email address of PhD advisor
If you are studying at a U.S. institution or hold a U.S. citizenship, please also clearly indicate this, since some of our travel funds have been provided by the NSF and are limited to students satisfying these criteria. Please note that the NSF also requires that you fly with a U.S. air carrier to be eligible for support, so please take this into account when making your travel arrangements.
Priority will be given to students who are first authors of papers, then to students who are co-authors of papers and then to students who are just participating.
The deadline for travel support applications is May 1st, 23:59, UTC-12, but we will consider later applications if there are leftover funds after the first round of applications.
